Reflection:Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul
Peter,
an uneducated Galilean fisherman and eyewitness to the events of Jesus’ public ministry and first leader(pope) of the young Christian community. Paul, a highly educated Roman citizen and former enemy of this new religion, who became a believer and fearless apostle after a personal conversion experience. God has chosen to reveal himself through His Son Jesus and the leadership ministry of these two disciples! Benedict XVI has declared June 2008-June 2009 the Year of St. Paul in celebration of the 2000th anniversary of this saint’s death. This “Pauline Year” will take place in Rome and it is encouraged that similar initiatives be held in dioceses and parishes which carry the name of St. Paul. This apostle of the Gentiles dedicated himself to the spreading of Good News to all peoples and spent himself for the unity of all Christians. Thus, Benedict XVI explained that this year must have an ecumenical dimension.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks us the question “Who am I for you?” ,“What do you think of me?” Jesus wants to be known as a person, wants to be in relationship with us! Like Peter and Paul, who became Jesus’ friends and disciples, we too are called into that friendship.
Please Note, Summer Office hours are 9:30-12:30; Mon-Thur. ONLY!

It is in giving that we receive . . . (Francis of Assisi)
Let Us Pray: It is not that I want the world, Lord, but there is still a part of me that believes that with just a little more I would be content. There is still a part of me that says if I were blessed with just a little more I could afford to be more generous. Help me to share the little that I have to know with Francis the joy of letting go, of placing my trust in you and not in what I possess.
